The Chameleons: Women with autism

April is National Autism Awareness Month and this week our blog will be focusing on posts about autism.

We often hear about autism in men, but rarely in women. This Australian film looks at three different generations of women living with autism and how the stigma of the condition is amplified. I think the term ‘Chameleons’ perfectly describes women with autism and why girls and women are often diagnosed later on in life as they learn to mask their symptoms and blend in with the people around them through mimicry.
